Subnet calculator for IPv4 and IPv6
Type an address with /prefix or a dotted netmask. Network, broadcast, host range, wildcard mask and binary update as you type, and you can split the network by subnet count or hosts per subnet.
Try:

Split into subnets
Divide this network into equal subnets by how many you need or by hosts per subnet.

Quick answer
Enter an IP with /prefix or a netmask, e.g. 192.168.1.10/24. The calculator shows network 192.168.1.0, broadcast 192.168.1.255, hosts .1 to .254 (254 usable), netmask 255.255.255.0 and wildcard 0.0.0.255.
How to use
- 1. Enter the addressType 10.0.0.1/22, 10.0.0.1 255.255.252.0 or an IPv6 prefix such as 2001:db8::/48.
- 2. Read the resultsNetwork, broadcast, host range and masks update instantly; copy any value.
- 3. Split if neededChoose number of subnets or hosts per subnet to get the subnet list.
Common use cases
- Plan VLANs and office subnets
- Check which addresses a firewall rule or ACL covers
- Convert between CIDR and dotted masks for router configs
- Size cloud VPC and subnet ranges
Features
- CIDR and dotted netmask input, including wildcard masks
- Network, broadcast, first and last host, usable and total addresses
- Netmask, wildcard, hex mask and reverse DNS name
- Binary view with network and host bits highlighted
- Split by number of subnets or hosts per subnet
- IPv6 prefixes with expanded and compressed notation

Frequently asked questions
- How many usable hosts does a /24 have?
- 256 addresses minus network and broadcast, so 254 usable hosts.
- Why do /31 and /32 show no broadcast?
- RFC 3021 lets /31 point-to-point links use both addresses, and /32 is a single host, so neither has a broadcast address.
- What is a wildcard mask?
- The inverse of the netmask, used by Cisco ACLs and OSPF. 255.255.255.0 becomes 0.0.0.255.
- Is my input sent anywhere?
- No. All calculations run in your browser.
